What an absolutely beautiful rifle to work with.

A true carbine, this Sako L46 chambered in 222REM is as stunning as the photos we are displaying above.

In above average (very good) condition, there are some visible signs of gentle use over its lifetime.

Take it or leave it, the tasco scope was left on the rifle for photographs which highlight the inclusion of genuine Sako mounts & rings.

Factory bluing on the Bofors Steel marked and original barrel for this gun is at least 90% with some thinning along the top forward and aft of the penultimate barrel band.

Complete with factory Sako butt plate and sling swivels installed.

A keen eye will show right hand side safety on the bolt. So this is a combination of early Sako but with right side bolt safety.

Serial: 47009

A very tidy package overall and something sure to be highly sought after.

A bit more about the Sako L46

Step into history with the L46 hunting rifle, born during wartime and officially introduced in 1946.

Initially embraced in Finland, the Nordic countries, and Western Europe, it marked a pivotal moment when Sako made its mark in the US.

The breakthrough came with Jan Winter, an agent from Firearms International, showcasing the L46 in the USA.

Sako’s exports to the US soared throughout the 1950s, surpassing even domestic sales by 1953.

The L46, Sako’s inaugural rifle designed for their proprietary 7×33 caliber, revolutionised the industry.

Tailored for hunting birds and small game, it boasted a detachable magazine—a rarity at the time.

The Sako L46, was the first rifle featuring Sako’s distinctive binocular mount, setting the stage for a legacy of excellence.
